Professor Abd al-Fattah El-Awaisi, the Founding Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Scotland's Al-Maktoum Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies, has received a "Special Award for Innovation" for "Setting the New Agenda for Cultural Engagement" through his key role in establishing Al-Maktoum Institute in Scotland in the last seven years: 2000-2007.
